Don't know who wrote the review that said the price of drink is reasonable. I suspect the management. 4.30 for a pint of Heineken or Guinness . That's city centre prices.
Still a nice pub, just a bit more expensive. Better local alternatives.
I reviewed this in about 1 year ago when I thought it was a good local pub. However, it's now under new management who've tried to go upmarket. The decor is fine, but doesn't have the same atmosphere. Also changed menu, which is very limited. Today the menu offered me spicy chilli, the chef should be advised that salt is not a substitute for chilli! I can only presume that the meals are all frozen, and then defrosted to order as my plate was swimming in a pool of water and the roast potatoes on my husband's plate were solid. Put this together with high pricing on everything (including drinks although measure has gone down to 25ml when prices went up), I will definitely not be back for food. Staff are pleasant enough, but due to all other factors this wouldn't be my first choice for a quick drink!staff are good, large range of drinks available (esp gin). good pub with a mixed age crowd, and normally entertainment at weekends/bank holidays
Very nice decor. Staff nice. A pricey for the area though. Still worth a visit.
Now refurbished to an excellent level. New friendly, efficient staff and pleasant customers. The food is reasonably priced and decent quality, as are the drinks. It's been a complete clear out and the change is amazing. We will be coming in here regularly.from now on.
